Harley H. Einspahr Sr.
Harley H. Einspahr Sr., 94, of Elwood died Dec. 10, 2002, at the Tri-County Area Hospital in Lexington.
He was born June 20, 1908, Kenesaw to Bernhardt C. and Emma Plambeck Einspahr. He was raised in Kenesaw, where he went to school. He was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Wanda Township, in Adams County. After school he worked various jobs as a farm hand and a mechanic in Nebraska and Colorado.
On Oct. 23, 1932, he married Hattie Caroline Marie Kottemeyer at Arriba, Colo. They moved to Lexington area in 1935 and to Wilsonville in 1949 while he farmed. In 1953, they made their home in Elwood where he farmed until he retired in 1968. After retiring he worked for a number of years with Bellamy’s John Deere of Elwood.
Mr. Einspahr was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Arapahoe.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (Dean) Houlden of Elwood; three sons, Virgil (Janis) of Orleans, Norman (Cynthia) of Longmont, Colo., and Harley Jr. (Merilen) of Farnam; a brother, Marcus Wensil (Hulda) Einspahr of Arapahoe; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; his parents; five sisters, Susetta, Mildred, Delores, Laveda and Eleanor; a brother, Marcus; and a grandson, Michael Houlden.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with the Rev. Kenton Birtell officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Williamson-Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, which is in charge.
