Roy Chester Devine
Funeral services for Roy C. Devine were held Saturday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Walker-Love Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Matheny, pastor of the First Congregational church, was in charge.
Casket bearers were his three brothers, Clarence and Frank Devine of Cozad, Neb., William Devine of Wiggins, Colo., and three nephews Eugene Speck of Benkleman and Jack Martin of Farnam, Nebr., and Dale Devine of Cozad.
Burial followed in the Flagler cemetery.
Roy Chester Devine, son of Charles Devine and his wife, Catherine Croft Devine, was born in Dawson county, Nebraska on Nov. 30, 1884. He passed from this present earthly life on Feb. 28, 1957, being, at his demise, 73 years and 3 months in age.
Mr. Devine was educated in the public schools of his native Dawson County, Neb., and upon the attainment of manhood, engaged in the business of farming as well as in construction and mechanical work. He remained a resident of Dawson and Frontier counties, Neb., until he removed to Kit Carson county, Colo., in 1940; after which year he lived first in the vicinity of Seibert and then later in the Flagler area.
In the year 1950, he retired from active labors and took up his permanent residence in the town of Flagler. He expired as the result of a heart attack on Feb. 28, 1957.
Surviving him, at his passing are three brothers, Clarence Devine and Frank Devine, both of Cozad, Neb., and William Devine of Wiggins, Colo. He also leaves eight nephews, six nieces and friends.
