Leslie Cross
Leslie M. Cross, of 305 North Jefferson, Sheridan, Wyo., died Nov. 13, 1990, at the age of 94 at Sheridan County Memorial hospital.
He was born June 10, 1896, in Ingham to Matthew and Elizabeth Cross. He grew up in Ingham and started work for the CB&O Railroad in 1914.
He married Anna Gaibler of Eustis Mar. 20, 1923.
Cross was track supervisor on the Alliance Division in 1935 and roadmaster on the Sterling Division in 1936. He moved to Sheridan as roadmaster in 1938 and retired in 1966.
A life member of the Sheridan Elks Lodge, he also belonged to Masonic Lodge, Burlington Veterans and American Association of Retired Persons. He had given more than 5,000 hours of volunteer work at Sheridan Veterans Administration Medical Center. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.
Three brothers and a half brother preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; a son Duane Cross and his wife of new Orleans, La.; a sister Edith Elliott of Carmichael, Calif.; two half-sisters Marie Wiebke of Omaha and Helen Woodgate of Columbus; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Nov. 15 at the Ferries Funeral Home with burial in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan or Elks Cemetery Fund.
