Kenneth Cole
Kenneth Dean Cole was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska on August 29, 1934 to Dorothy and Weaver Cole. He passed from this world into eternal life in heaven at the Sunrise Community on Sunday, October 12, 2014.
Ken spent his childhood in Farnam, Nebraska and loved to play sports. Ken was a 1952 graduate of Farnam High School. He attended Hastings College on a football scholarship before entering the Army and serving in Okinawa, Japan for two years. After serving the Army, Ken graduated from the University of Nebraska on the GI Bill.
After graduation Ken was a bank examiner for the FDIC. In 1960, Ken moved to Denver, Colorado and became an insurance broker. A month after moving to Denver, Ken met Virginia Kort, another Nebraska transplant, as they inadvertently chose the same apartment building. In 1961, Ken and Ginny were married in Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Ken was a respected member of the Denver Insurance Community from 1961 until his retirement in 2003. He achieved great success in his career including the designation of CPCU and was a longtime member of Denver Rotary. He was involved in multiple charities and was an active member in his church.
His loving family includes his wife of 53 years Ginny, his three children Mike (Linda), Tim (Jon), Amy (Eric) and especially his five adored grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Jonathan, Elijah and Samuel. His larger family includes numerous relatives and close friends.
A celebration of Ken's life will take place on Thursday, October 16th at 11:00 am at Atonement Lutheran Church, 6281 West Yale Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado: Reception following at Pinehurst Country Club.
