Fay L. Claflin
Fay Claflin, 93 of Farnam, Nebraska, died August 8, 2008, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska.
She was born July 24, 1915, at Frontier County to Elmer and Ida (Seybold) Maret. She attended rural school in the Stockville area.
On July 16, 1932, she married O. Wayne Claflin at Stockville. The couple made their home in Stockville, Elsie and Moorefield, Nebraska, before moving to a farm site north of Farnam.
In 1961, the couple moved to Farnam where Fay worked as a school cook from 1963 until her retirement in 1978. Mr. Claflin preceded her in death in 1986. Following the death of her husband, she worked at Steve's Café in Gothenburg, Nebraska. In most recent years, she enjoyed the quiet life at home in Farnam.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed time spent with family, especially dinner on Sundays. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Nita, Donna and Marilyn; four sisters, Dorothy, Evelyn, Eunice, Agnes; and a brother, Merle.
Survivors include her two sons, Edward (Shirley) Claflin of Gothenburg, Micheal (Deb) Claflin of Farnam; two daughters, Cindy (Ron) Sabin of McCook, Nebraska, Ruth "Lynn" Raney of Cozad, Nebraska; sister, Beulah (Lawrence) Hall of Cozad; 23 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; over 55 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with the Rev. Steve Bales officiating. Burial was in the Arbor Cemetery west of Stockville.
Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad was in charge of arrangements.
