Obituary Collection
Kenneth Joseph Brown

Kenneth Joseph Brown, city employee for 20 years and a native of Frontier County, died May 3, 1982, at his home in Curtis.

He was born Dec. 27, 1913, six miles south of Curtis, the son of Joseph L. and Gladys Nichols Brown.

His mother preceded him in death in June 1961.

Dec. 23, 1933, he was united in marriage to Leona Mann in Oberlin, Kans. They farmed in the Curtis-Stockville area until they moved to Curtis in 1957, where he took a position with the city light plant.

For 20 years he worked at the plant, including years as plant superintendent. He retired in 1977.

Brown was a retired volunteer fireman and was a member of IOOF Lodge No. 179. Fishing was not just a "hobby" with him, "it was his life," after retirement.

Survivors include his father, Joseph Brown and wife Ethel, of North Platte; two sons in Curtis and their children, Harold and Nadine Brown and Chip, Rick, Nick, and Jill, and Robert and Jennie Brown and Rodney, Curtiss, Regan and Melinda; one daughter and her children, Judy and Al Moore and Jay and Jeffery Pike and Jodi Moore of Farnam; two brothers, Harvey of Curtis and Earl of Farnam; and two step-sisters, Jessie Lange and Laura Munson, both of North Platte.

Final Rites will be Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Methodist Church in Curtis with burial in Arbor Cemetery north of Stockville. Rev. Larry Perkins will officiate at the church and the IOOF Lodge will be in charge of services at the cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
