Joan A. Brauer
Joan Arvilla Brauer, 63, of North Platte died Jan. 9, 1999, at Great Plains Regional Medical
Center in North Platte.
She was born April 20, 1935, at Sterling, Colo., to Charles Reeder and Arvilla R. Koebel
Phillips. She grew up in Sterling and in Bridgeport and Alliance. She graduated from Alliance
High School in 1953. She attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and received an
associate*s degree in business.
On June 26, 1955, she married Allen D. Brauer at Sidney. They made their home on a farm south
of Sidney from 1955 to 1968. They lived two years at Chadron and then moved to Farnam, where
they lived for 10 years.
In 1980, Mrs. Brauer moved to North Platte, where she worked for Dr. Charles Heider Jr. A
medical disability forced her retirement on March 18, 1994.
She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and her dog. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include three sons, Chuck (Kathy) and Dan (Lisa), both of North Platte, and Tim
(Tami) of Carrollton, Texas; a sister Loraine (Urlin) McCartney of Benkelman; two brothers,
Eldon (Doris) Phillips of Fort Worth, Texas, and Wayne (Doris *Jean*) Phillips of Clawson,
Mich.; seven grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Beth, Nicole, Rose, Kyle and Kourtney; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
