David Reinhold Bender
David Reinhold Bender, 84, of North Platte died June 2, 1996 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
He was born Dec. 2, 1911, at Albion to Karl and Elizabeth Heil Bender. His family lived at Albion for a year and then moved to the Moorefield community. He attended the Mulberry country school. After his schooling, he took over the family farm.
He married Emily Fay Fyfe on April 25, 1943 at Moorefield. They continued farming in the Moorefield community until 1971, when they moved to North Platte.
He was a member of the Church of God at Holbrook and attended the Wesleyan Church in North Platte.
Survivors include his wife of North Platte; a daughter, Ruth Esther Obermeier of Grand Island; a son, Edward (Mimi) of Pelzer, S.C.; four grandchildren, Annette, Matthew, Marsha and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Candace and David; and a sister-in-law, Eunice Bender of Aurora, CO.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Eugene; two brothers, Alfred and Carl; and adopted brother, Adam Nagel; and an adopted sister, Elizabeth Nagel Radtke.
A memorial has been established to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center oncology department and the North Platte Opportunity Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wilsey McKnight of the Christian Adventist Church in Highland Village, Texas,m and Pastor Ron Lauber of the Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in the Moorefield Cemetery.
