Linda Kay Schurr

Linda Kay Schurr, 67, of Farnam, Nebraska, died November 14, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer at Gothenburg Health in Gothenburg, NE.

Linda was born June 14, 1949 at Sutherland to Bernard and Pencieetta (Case) Gummere, Jr. She attended the Birdwood one room country school, District #36 thru 2nd grade and finished her schooling at Sutherland. She attended UNL after high school.

On September 3, 1968 she married Jerry Gayle Schurr of Farnam at The Hitching Post in Las Vegas. They resided west of Farnam all their married life.

Linda was a long time member of the Farnam United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated employee of the First State Bank of Farnam for over 30 years. She managed the Farnam Insurance Agency for the past few years. From an early age, she loved everything to do with horses. She and Uncle Mose traveled the state while she competed in the barrel racing competition. In 1963 she was crowned the Sutherland Rodeo Junior Queen. She was an excellent cook and contributed to many community functions.

Survivors include her husband Jerry of Farnam; daughter, Paige (Jeff) Kreycik of Kearney, NE; two sons, Jerud (Tamatha) Schurr of Phillipsburg, KS, Ty Schurr of Gothenburg, NE; nine grandchildren - Presley, Dawson, Jack, Chase, Ryleigh, Brandon, Brock, Brooke, and Braydon; Amanda Lenz, mother of Chase and Ryleigh, sister, Vicki (Steve) Cochran of Cozad, NE; nephew, Jason (Tara) Cochran of McCook, NE; niece, Samantha Cochran of Roseland, NE; along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Penny; aunts and uncles Bill and Gladys Adams and Mose and Thelma Trego.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, November 16, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at Farnam United Methodist Church, 303 Caribou Street, Farnam, NE, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastors Neil Kloppenborg and Greg Boller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Farnam Cemetery, Farnam, NE.
