Jacob "Jake" Kaufman
Jacob Kaufman, a long time resident of this community died last Saturday night at a home for aged people in Lexington, Nebraska, where he had been for a year for treatment. He resided at the Mrs. Beck home two years before going to Lexington.
Born at Buffalo, New York on November 24, 1859, he was eighty-eight years and seven months of age at the time of his death. His only known relative was one brother and two nieces somewhere in the east.
He came west to this country in 1884 and farmed in Frontier County south of Farnam several years before moving to town. He never married and lived alone all of his life.
Before coming west he was a coachman for Senator Payne and at one time employed by the Burlington railroad.
Funeral services were held from the Hugo Funeral Home in Gothenburg to the Nazarene Church in Farnam, where services were conducted by Rev. T.B. Gray at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
