David King Rice, Jr.

David King Rice Jr., 54, of Brady, died Sept. 9, 2015, at the Denver Health Medical Center after being struck by a motor vehicle in Brady.

David was born on Feb. 11, 1961, to David King Rice Sr. and Joyce May Shevory Rice in Norfolk, Massachusetts. He grew up in Mirror Lake in Norfolk. After his schooling, David worked construction in the New England area.

In 1983, David married Lorain Thompson and they later divorced. He was later married to Theresa Rawding. In the summer of 2005, David and his family moved to Farnam, where he continued his work as a carpenter.

David was a Christian man who enjoyed the outdoors and God’s creations. He liked to write poetry and listen to music. David also enjoyed photography, art, wood working and electronics and was willing to share his knowledge with family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his son, David King Rice III; and parents, Joyce and David Sr.

He is survived by his children, Jessica (fiancé, Jeremy Woodward) Rice, Christian (Samantha) Rice and Lawrence (fiancé, Jenn Hatch) Rice III; their mother, Lorain Thompson Rice, all of Attleboro, Massachusetts; son, Joseph Rice, of Wareham, Massachusetts; daughter, Angela Rice; their mother, Theresa Rawding, all of Farnam; sisters, Jullianne Able, of Pratt, Kansas, and Lea Albee, of Franklin, Massachusetts; brothers, Everett John Rice, of Pratt, Kansas, and Lawrence Dana Rice II, of Needham, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Dylan Rice, Lawrence Rice IV, Kristian Simoneau, Gabriel Simoneau and Isaiah Woodward; girlfriend, Diane Holbrook, of Wakeeney, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Cremation was chosen. David’s cremains will be buried next to his son at the Farnam Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed prior to services. Odean Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
