Marcia Ann (Whitney) Nicks, 69, of Sheridan, formerly of Torrington, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at home with her family.

Marcia was born on Aug. 13, 1942, in Farnam, Neb., to Arthur E. and Anna M. (Fickenscher) Whitney. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1960, and earned her AA degree at the Eastern Wyoming College in 1964. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Z & W Mill in Torrington for 28 years.

Marcia was a lifelong member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington and recently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Clinton Nicks, and two infant brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Sheri Lynn Nicks of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Julie (Duncan) Irvine of Sheridan, five grandchildren, Ashley Layher and Grayson Kissell of Cheyenne, Lauren Beatty of Highlands Ranch, Morgan Irvine and Ethan Irvine both from Sheridan, and one great-grandchild on the way.

Funeral Services for Marcia will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul J. Cain officiating, A reception will be held immediately after the service in the reception room at the church. Interment will be on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, in Farnam, with Pastor Cain officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials to honor Marcia can be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1300 W. 5th Street, Sheridan, WY or to the donor's choice.
