Church, Jean Marguerite
OMAHA - Jean Marguerite Church, beloved wife and sister, 91, of Omaha passed away Nov. 24, 2007, in Omaha.
Jean was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Farnam to Angeloah and Hazel Huston Miller. In 1950, she married Cecil H. Stepp who passed away September 1967. She married Nicholas D. Church in July 1972 in Florida before they moved back to Nebraska in 1979.
Jean spent many successful years as a teacher and guidance counselor. She taught school at the junior-high level in Eustis, Cozad and Omaha. She was a junior-high counselor and dean of students, before retiring from the Florida school systems. Before retiring again in 1996, she was a high-school counselor at Paul VI, St. Joseph and North Platte High Schools.
Jean is survived by a sister, Yolande Davis of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Arlene Miller of Almogordo, N.M.; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services took place in Omaha with burial in Farnam.
A memorial has been established to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Educational Department Scholarship Fund, in Jean's memory.
The Korisko-Larkin-Staskiewicz Mortuary in Omaha was in charge of arrangements.
