Died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. M. J. Tufts, in Farnam, Nebr., on Monday, Feb. 22, '09, at 5:30 p. m. age 79 years, 3 months and 18 days.

His death was very sudden and unexpected by the family. He was talking but a moment before the end came and was on his feet at the time. He died without a groan or struggle and was as peaceful a death as could be imagined.

“Uncle Sam” as he was called by everybody was born in New York, Nov. 4, 1829 and came to Dawson County, Nebr., in 1883 and has resided here since.

He was well liked and respected by everybody and had not an enemy on earth.

He leaves a sister here and two brothers, both older than he, in New York, to mourn his loss.
