Morris Wyckoff
Morris Wyckoff, resident of the Farnam community for 64 years, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 1970, at his home in Farnam. Born in Urbana, Iowa, on Dec. 14, 1887, he was 82.
He was the son of John Fielding Wyckoff and his wife, Margaret D. Ferguson, and after spending his childhood in Iowa, moved with his family to Frontier County in 1906.
On Nov. 24, 1915, he was united in marriage to Clara Gewecke at North Platte, and to this union two children were born, a daughter, Ruth, and a son, Dan. They farmed until 1968, when they retired and moved to Farnam. Mr. and Mrs. Wyckoff celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary on Nov. 24, 1965.
Morris was a devoted husband and father, known throughout the area for his neighborliness, kindness and fine character, exemplified by the honor shown him by his selection as the Farnam "Father of the Year" in 1969.
Surviving him are his wife, Clara of Farnam; a daughter, Ruth Grabenstein of Eustis; a son, Dan Wyckoff of Denver; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Smith of Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Howard Wyckoff of Lovell, Wyoming; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday afternoon at the Farnam United Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Conley Hinrichs. Delores Nickerson and Audrey Kotschwar sang, with Doris Smith their accompanist. Pallbearers were Clyde Gardner, Dale McNickle, George Edson, Max McNickle, Roland Lehman and Bernard Lindvall. Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
