Grandma Williams Answers Summons

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Eliza Ann Williams, at the Farnam Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Fred H. Johnson, conducting the services. Mrs. Williams passed away last Friday morning at 4:30 o’clock, at the home of her sons, Bert and Edd, ten miles south of Farnam. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.

Eliza Ann Winters Williams was born in Indiana, October 11, 1855, leaving there with her parents at four years of age to make their home for a time in Kansas and at 12 years of age they moved to Falls City, where she lived until her marriage to E. C. Williams, and they made their home at Sabetha, Kan., until 1886 when they moved to Dawson county, Nebraska. They finally moved to Colorado to live with their son there until the infirmities of old age caused them to return to Nebraska; where they could have a better chance to care for them in the home of Bert and Edd Williams, ten miles south of Farnam, where she passed away, March 25, 1938, at 4:30 a. m.

To this union five children were born, three boys and two girls, Bert and Edd Williams of Farnam, Ray Williams of Woodland, Colo., Mrs. Will White, living near Cozad, and Mrs. Ella Houser, who has been here for some time taking care of her aged parents. All has been done that loving hands could do to make their declining years as comfortable and happy as possible.

Grandma was a lovely Christian character, being a member of the United Brethren church and when coming west in the early days here joining the Methodist church with a letter of recommendation from the United Brethren church of Sabetha, Kan. Her Christian faith was still strong as the pastor talked with her about it this winter.

She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons and two daughters, and her husband, who will be 91 years his next birthday, and 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

“Servant of God well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past,
The battle’s fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.”
   —Lord Byron.

So when life’s sweet journey ends,
Soul and body part like friends—
No quarrels, no murmurs, no delay;
A kiss, a sigh, and so away.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to express our appreciation to our neighbors and friends for the many acts of kindness during the illness and death of our wife and mother, as well as for the beautiful floral offerings.
