Edward E. Williams

Edward E. Williams of Farnam passed away Sunday, June 24, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. He was 96. Services were Wednesday, June 27, 1979 at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with Rev. Lisle E. Mewmaw officiating. Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.

Edward E. Williams was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clark [Eli C. and Eliza] Williams on Jan. 15, 1883 at Oneida, Kansas. In 1896, the family came to Nebraska by covered wagon and located in Dawson County near the village of Plum Creek, now Lexington. This is where Ed grew up and attended school.

He chose farming as his life's occupation and on March 1, 1908, he and his brother, Bert, moved to a farm in Frontier County. They farmed as a partnership from 1908 through 1961, when due to failing health they retired and moved into Farnam. This partnership ended with the death of Albert in 1977.

Survivors include six nephews, George Williams of Brush, Colo., Clifford Houser of Florida, Vern White of Cozad, Lyle White of Sutherland, Albert White of North Platte and Lloyd of Lexington; three nieces, Opal Koch of Cozad, Mildred Abbot of Palmer and Vera Memmatt, Burbank, California; and one cousin, Nellie Westfall of Lexington.
