Ellis L. Widick
Ellis L. Widick, 87, of Farnam died Oct. 20, 2001, at BryanLGH in Lincoln.
He was born Dec. 26, 1913, at Smithfield to Grover Cleveland and Rose Myrtle Clayton Widick. He graduated from Farnam High School in 1931.
On June 1, 1936, he married Lois M. Reynolds at North Platte.
They farmed for many years near Farnam, until retiring and moving into Farnam in 1982. His wife preceded him in death June 14, 2001.
Mr. Widick enjoyed all sports especially Nebraska football. He was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church, a former member of the Farnam school board, Co-Op board, cemetery board, Senior Center board and the Farnam Lions Club.
Surviving him is a daughter, Jan (Roland) Sheffield of Farnam; three sons, Ren (Kathy) and Dan (Jan), both of Farnam, and Doug (Linda) of Curtis; two brothers, Bill and Orvale (Barb) Widick, both of Farnam; 13 grandchildren, Mark (Miquon), Wes (Laurie), Tanner and Kory Widick and Ann (Matthew) Aden, all of Farnam, Michael (Cindy) Widick of Greeley, Colo., Karen (Glen) Bomberger of Oconto, Brad (Jackie) Widick of Gothenburg, Ross (Terri) and Craig (Kathy) Widick, both of Brady, Jeremy (Adrienne) Widick of Lincoln, Justin (Jenny) Widick of Omaha and Kristy Wohlford of North Platte; and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine Williams; and a brother, Merle.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the Senior Center, both at Farnam.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Shirley Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
Blase Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg is in charge.
