Obituary Collection
A. Everett Whitney

A. Everett Whitney, 72 of Scottsbluff died Tuesday night at his home. He was born June 21, 1912, at Farnam to Vincent and Maude Whitney.

He graduated from Farnam High School. He married Anna Magdalene Fickenscher on June 20, 1937, at Gothenburg. They made their home in Farnam until moving to Torrington, Wyo. in 1946.

They lived there for 32 years until moving to Scottsbluff in 1978. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a section foreman for 42 years until ill health caused his retirement in 1974.

He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Scottsbluff and the B.M.W.E. railroad employees union.

Survivors include his wife, Anna, of Scottsbluff; a son, Keith of Torrington, Wyo.; two daughters, Marcia Nicks, of Torrington, Wyo.; Beatrice Whitney of Omaha; one brother, Leonard, of Bremerton, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two infant children, parents, a brother, Clyde, and a sister, Helen.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church of Scottsbluff with the Rev. David Freseman officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Farnam Cemetery in Farnam with the Rev. Kenneth Franzen officiating.

A memorial has been established to Calvary Lutheran Church. Friends may call at the McVay Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg Sunday.

Jolliffe Funeral Home of Scottsbluff is in charge of arrangements.
