Ira F. Wear
Ira F. Wear, son of Rankin Y. and Serena F. Wear, was born on November 10, 1883, at Dorchester, Nebraska, and departed this life January 17, 1950, at Kearney, at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 7 days.
He was one of 11 children, his parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
His early childhood was spent at Tobias. From there he moved with his family to their home near Farnam and spent the remainder of his life in this vicinity.
He was united in marriage with Christie Ellen Adkisson February 28, 1905, to which union were born 8 children, one dying in infancy.
He was a loving husband, a kind father and was adored by his grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ellen; 7 children, Carl L., Alfred W., Marie Hazen and Lewise Smallfoot of Farnam; Dehla Donaldson of Vallejo, California; E. Arthur of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Lucett Halley of Stockville, 22 grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
The body was brought to the Hugo-McVay funeral home in Gothenburg and on Friday to Farnam where funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev. L. D. Compton officiating. Singers were Marie Blomquist, Pansy Piersol, Dale Montgomery and Earl Hess. Pallbearers, John Rowland, Hugo Blomquist, Joe Hicks, Burr Parker, Owen Thompson, Virgil Mayden.
Interment in Farnam cemetery.
