Ernest C. Uhlig
Ernest C. Uhlig, 85, Sutherland, died Friday in Tribune, Kans. He was born June 7, 1880 in Adair, Ia., coming to Eustis at the age of five. He had homesteaded in Wyoming, coming to Sutherland in 1923 where he entered the oil business. Until his retirement in 1950 he had operated a motel and two service stations at Ogallala.
He was a member of Sutherland Presbyterian Church, Sutherland Lodge No. 299 A.F. and A.M. and a past master of that lodge; Zabud Council No. 6, Euphrates Chapter, No. 15, Royal Arch Masons and Palestine Commandery No. 13, Knights Templar, all of North Platte; Tehama Temple of Shrine at Hastings, Platte Valley Chapter No. 305 O.E.S. at Sutherland and was a Past Worthy Patron of that organization. He had also served on the Sutherland school board.
Survivors include one sister, Edna Volkman of Cozad; two brothers, Guy of Cozad and Harmon of Loup City; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. (MST) at the Sutherland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. D. D. Su officiating.
Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery with masonic rites at graveside.
Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
