Obituary Collection
Mrs. J. O. Tillotson
Pioneer Settler Dies

Susan Agnes Foote was born June 1, 1871 at Racine, Wisconsin and departed this life at her home in Farnam, nebraska October 23, 1936.

She moved with her parents at the early age of two years to Lockport, New York and at eight years of age moved to Logan, Iowa. In 1889 she settled with her parents near Farnam, Nebr. On December 24, 1891 she was united in marriage to Joseph O. Tillotson at Farnam. To this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. Two daughters, Doris and Erma proceeded her to the great beyond.

She was converted and joined the Congregational church of Farnam very early in life, later on August 31, 1930 transferring her membership to the Methodist Episcopal church in Farnam.

She leaves to mourn her departure her loving and devoted husband and six children, Leon O., North Platte; Emery A., Gering; Hazel A., LeRoy M., J. Clayton, and George F., Farnam. Also one sister, Emily, and one brother, Grover. Twelve grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. A loving and faithful wife and mother, a good neighbor has left us and heard her master say "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me,
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound or foam;
When I have crossed the bar, the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell
And after that the dark,
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark.
For though from out our bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church Farnam, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock October 25, conducted by Rev. O. McGuire. Burial was in the Farnam cemetery by the side of her two daughters.
