LeRoy Tillotson
Hazel Farmer Tillotson

Hazel Farmer Tillotson, daughter of Otho and Eiferzena Farmer, was born June 29, 1900 near Farnam.

LeRoy Merritt Tillotson, son of Joseph and Susan Tillotson was born August 7, 1896, on the old family homestead near Farnam. Their lives were taken Saturday, March 30, 1968 in a fire which destroyed their farm.

LeRoy and Hazel both graduated from Farnam High School. Hazel taught country school for a time in the Farnam vicinity. LeRoy attended business college in York.

They were united in marriage on September 10, 1919 in her parent's home northeast of Farnam. To this union were born three sons LeRoy Jr., Raymond and John; and two daughters, Leola and Mary.

They are survived by the two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Leola) Haney and Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Thompson, both of Elwood; and by two sons, LeRoy Jr. and Raymond, both of Farnam; also fourteen grandchildren: Mrs. Lloyal (Hazel Mae) Debban, Mrs. Gaylan (Ellen) Olnhausen, Vesta Lee and Stanley Haney, George, Betty, Gary, Sandra, Karen, Susan, and Kent Thompson; Brenda, Greg, and Gene Tillotson, and three step-grandchildren John L. Schurr, Mrs. Marvin (Janet Ann) Peatrowsky, and Jerry Schurr.

LeRoy Tillotson is also survived by three brothers, Leon of Beatrice, Clayton of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and George, of Boulder, Colorado.

Hazel Tillotson is also survived by two brothers, Bert Farmer of Terrill, Iowa, and Glen Farmer of Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

Both are survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

They were preceded in death by their parents, one son, two grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

They were both long-time members of the Farnam Methodist Church. Hazel was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, busy to the day of the tradegy sewing doll clothes for the children of veterans in the Veterans' Hospital. She also enjoyed a hobby of making quilts.

They deeply enjoyed the visits of their children and grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday April 2nd at the Farnam School Auditorium with Clergyman Rev. James Staley, officiating.

Music was provided by Vicki Cross, Ronda Klein, Connie Fritz, Sheryl Kotschwar, Sharlene Speck, and Louise Oberg, accompanied by Karen Rieker.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Oberg, Jess Zysset, Elgie Thompson, Art Wolf, Leon Kotschwar, Howard Wolf, Jack Martin, Russell Wilcox, Noble Bellamy, Raymond Buehner, Kenneth Stevens, and Clarence Johnson.
