Roy Stebbins Dies

A message was received Tuesday morning from Lincoln stating that William Leroy Stebbins passed away in the University hospital the previous night. The news was a great shock to the community, as a letter received from him the day before had informed his wife and friends that he was in the hospital, but did not feel much sick and expected to be out in a few days. He had cautioned his relatives not to worry because it was nothing serious. To confirm the statement that he was not considered in a serious condition, a letter written by the authorities in Lincoln stated that not five minutes before he died he was laughing and joking with the nurse.

Roy was called to service on the 15th of October, having been in training at Lincoln only thirteen days. Bronchial pneumonia being the cause of his death.

He had grown to manhood in Farnam and when the news of his death became known it cast a gloom over the entire community that will not soon be forgotten.

The remains were brought to Farnam Wednesday morning and a short service was held from his residence at 2 p.m. the same day.

The pall bearers were O. L. Hudson, L. H. Fitch, T. W. Ainlay, A. B. Carmen, T. H. Bayley and G. I. Hicks, members of the Farnam Fire Department of which he also was a member.
