M. D. Stebbins Takes Own Life
M. D. Stebbins aged 59, living in Plum Creek precinct in Frontier county, and just south of Farnam, committed suicide last Friday morning about six o’clock by shooting himself in the head. He lived for several hours after the shooting but never regained consciousness.
The only reason that can be given for his rash act is ill health. Mr. Stebbins had lung trouble and had been suffering for some time. Plans were all made to leave the following day (last Saturday) for Denver and other western points in the hope of finding relief.
County Attorney Cheney, who acts as coroner in conjunction with the sheriff, was called over the phone but decided no inquest was necessary.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Farnam and burial made in the Farnam cemetery.
He leaves his wife and four children surviving him.—Faber.
