Eunice Elain Speck
IMPERIAL — Eunice Elain Fear Speck, 47, died Oct. 5, 1996, at her home in Imperial.
She was born June 19, 1949, at the Sutherland Community Hospital in Sutherland to Near and Lola Knoles Fear. Growing up in the Sutherland area, she attended school at District 85 near where her father ranched. When she was 8, the schools consolidated and she attended Sutherland Public Schools until graduating in 1967. At the age of 11, she and her family moved north of Sutherland where her family farmed and ranched. During her school days at Sutheraland, she was very active in volleyball, 4-H and cheerleading. She was also active in the Sutherland United Methodist Church, where she had been baptized and confirmed.
After graduating from high school, she attended Parks School of Business in Denver. Returning to Nebraska, she worked in North Platte until her marriage.
On Jan. 3, 1970, she married John W. Speck at the First United Methodist Church of Sutherland. To this union, three children were born: Chad, Jason and Johna.
In May 1980, the family moved to Imperial. She was active in the community, being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 15 years and a member of the United Methodist Church since 1963.
In 1988, she went to work at the Frenchman Valley Co-op and was employed there until she became ill in January of this year.
Survivors include a number of special family members: her husband, John; a son, Jason; a daughter, Johna; Lola Fear, Dean Fear, Tim, Billie, and Tylor Fear, all of Sutherland, Clarence Fear of Albany, Ore., Eldred and Alberta Wilhelmson of North Platte, Rob and Millie Speck of Millard, Dick and Shirley Speck of Farnam, Dan and Sheri Briggs of Imperial; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as a multitude of friends and neighbors, all of whom miss her greatly.
She was preceded in death by her son, Chad; her father, Neal Fear; and father-in-law, Eugene “Ben” Speck.
Services will be 1 p.m. MT Wednesday at the United Methodist Church of Imperial with Pastor David Rowe officiating. Burial will be 5 p.m. CT at the Farnam Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
There will be no visitation; however, register book signatures may be made after noon today at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial, which is in charge of arrangements.
