Mary (Wentz) Spangler

Mary M. Wentz was born near York, Pennsylvania, March 14, 1855, and departed this life June 7, 1945 at the Beye home in Fort Collins, Colorado to which place she had went June 3rd for a visit.

She gave her heart to God at the age of ten and united with the Evangelical Church. After coming to Nebraska, she joined the Methodist church and was a sincere Christian unto the end.

January 17, 1884, she was united in marriage to David G. Spangler, to which union five children were born. Her husband passed away on June 30, 1933.

On March 1, 1884, she came with her husband to Nickerson, Nebraska and lived in that community until the spring of 1905, when they moved to Fremont. In 1909, they moved to a farm north of Farnam where they resided until 1916 when they moved to Farnam.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Mrs. Viola Manzel of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Mrs. Ada Donelson of Seattle, Washington; [Mrs. Virgie Crossgrove;] Mrs. Iva Crossgrove of Farnam; Mrs. Neva Beye of Ft. Collins, Colorado; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the local Methodist Church with Rev. Tipton officiating and burial was beside her husband in the Farnam Cemetery.

Pallbearers wre Ralph Clement, Owen Thompson, Hugo Blomquist, George Vickrs, Edd Davidson, and A.H. Jorgensen. Singers were Mrs. Chas. Pollard and Mrs. Raymond Smith with Mrs. Harry Saum at the piano.
