Wilbur Sheffield
GOTHENBURG — Wilbur Sheffield, 74, of Gothenburg died Saturday at the Gothenburg hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1910, near Orafino.
He graduated from Orafino High School in 1930. He married Helen Nickerson, Dec. 24, 1934. He farmed south of Farnam for 38 years and moved to Gothenburg in 1972.
Since retirement, he has worked for Howell Lumber Co. and Gothenburg Farmland Coop.
He was a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day).
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Gothenburg; one son, Rolland and daughter-in-law Janice, of Farnam; three daughters, Detta (Mrs. Alfred) Holscher of Smithfield, Sharon (Mrs. Ronald) Peterson of Wellfleet, and Marilyn (Mrs. Fred) Jackson of Gothenburg; three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Albert) Soller of Gothenburg, Ruth (Mrs. Dale) Russell of Ogallala, and Pearl (Mrs. Clifford) Nickerson of North Platte; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the McVay Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with Elder Calvin Burrell officiating.
Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Gothenburg Senior Center or to the donor’s choice.
