Cora (Brown) Sheffield
Mrs. Cora Sheffield, 72, died early Thursday morning in an
Ogallala hospital.
Born March 20, 1889 in Clay Pool, Ind., to Richard and Nancy
Brown. She grew to young womanhood in Frontier county, Nebraska
and in 1908 was married to Oliver Sheffield in Stockville. The
couple made their home on a farm near Farnam where they
continued to live until Mr. Sheffield’s death in 1939.
She was a life-long member of the Seventh Day Church of God.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mrs. Dale (Ruth)
Russell of Ogallala; Mrs. Albert (Alice) Sollers of Gothenburg;
and Mrs. Clifford (Pearl) Nickerson of Lexington; a son, Wilbur
(Helen), Farnam; ten grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
She will lie in state at the Bracken Memorial Chapel in
Ogallala until Saturday morning when she will be taken to
Gothenburg to lie in state at the McVay-Olesen Funeral Home
until Sunday noon. Sunday noon she will be taken to the
Methodist Church at Farnam for services at 2 p.m. and interment.
Bracken Mortuary in Ogallala is in charge.
