Joy William Russell, of Farnam, died Friday, Sept. 1, 1989 at his home.

Services for Russell were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1989 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nazarene Church at Farnam with Rev. John Bowlbey officiating. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.

Music for the services was provided by Joanne Jurjens and Doris Geiken, organist. Casket bearers were Raymond Tillotson, Harold Bick, Lynn Messersmith, Larry Jurjens, Jess Zysset and Jay Beerman. Honorary bearers were Earl Thomalla, Richard Derra, Wray Lydic, Lloyd Hopkins, Vern Brouillette and Leroy Tillotson.

Russell was born July 5, 1911 at Unadilla, the son of William and Katherine (Schwartman) Russell. He was married to Beulah McMichael on Sept. 2, 1931, at Norton, KS. He farmed and was an area resident since 1924.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah of Farnam; one daughter, Bonnie Betz of Eustis; one sister, Helen May of North Platte; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rex; one brother, Dale and one grandson, Paul.

Memorials may be made to the Farnam Rescue Unit.
