Minnie Laura (Flint) Rowland
Mrs. Minnie Rowland, a resident of Farnam and community for 46 years, died very suddenly with a heart attack at her home while visiting with a friend, Mrs. Emma Austin, about supper time Saturday.
Minnie Laura Flint was born in Creston, Illinois, February 24, 1868 and passed away in Farnam on February 19, 1944 at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 26 days.
While a child her parents moved to Western Nebraska, where she grew to young womanhood.
On January 9, 1889 she was united in Holy Wedlock to James Willard Rowland. To this union two sons were born, Fred and John Rowland.
In 1890 they moved to Stockville and in 1898 moved to the farm south of Farnam where they lived until her husband's death in 1913.
While in good health she was very active, engaging in various activities. She worked in the Girl's Reformatory at York. She spent some time serving in a rescue mission Kansas City, Missouri. Part of her time was spent on the west coast, and the performance of her duties took her through the states of California and Oregon. She was never satisfied unless engaged in some worthwhile work.
In late years while failing in health she endeavored to content herself in her own home with her needlework, garden, and chickens.
She has long been a faithful member of the Nazarene Church and a blessing to whomever she came in contact with. Grandma Rowland will be greatly missed by her loved ones and her many, many friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Fred Rowland of Ingham, and John Rowland of Farnam. Their wives, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Hugo Funeral Home to the Methodist Church with Rev. E. A. Rodewald of the Nazarene church officiating.
Pallbearers were John Oberg, David Banks, Ralph Jurjens, Harold Lehman, Lavern Spencer and Lawrence Oberg.
Interment was beside her husband in the Farnam Cemetery.
