Obituary Collection
D. Margarette (Parker) Rowland

Margarette Parker was born in Farnam, Nebraska, March 1, 1897. Her parents were Samuel S. and Minnie Tufts Parker, who were pioneers in the Farnam area. She graduated from the Clarkson School of Nursing in 1920. Following a few more years of nursing in the Omaha area, she returned to Farnam and was united in marriage to John A. Rowland in 1923.

She was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Farnam. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Easter Rebecca Lodge of Farnam.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Art (Pat) Soundy of Lexington, Mrs. Allan (Barbara) Thompson of Castle Rock, Washington, and one son, John P. Rowland of Dublin, California, two sisters, Mrs. Jeannette Parker of Farnam and Mrs. Wehrs Lindvall of North Platte, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rowland passed away at her home Friday, May 25th. Services were held May 29, 1973 at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with Father Royce Brown officiating.

Mrs. Elvin Peirsol provided music. Pallbearers were Wayne Williams, Gordon Levin, Jerry Atkins, Steve Soundy, A.J. Soundy and Tim Soundy.

Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
