OBITUARY

Minnie Marie Gewecke Roetter was born October 5, 1871, at Crown Point, Lake county, Indiana. She passed away at the family home in Farnam September 30, 1951, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 25 days. She was baptized August 29, 1872, and received confirmation in the Lutheran church at Ohiwa, Nebraska, on April 22, 1888, having come to Nebraska with her parents in 1881. She was united in marriage to Henry Roetter October 4, 1894, at Ohiowa.

Following her marriage they lived for six years with his mother and brother, then to house–keeping near Ohiowa until 1907, when they moved on a farm eight miles northwest of Farnam. Here they made their home until 1919 when ill health of their son forced them to leave the farm. They bought a home in Farnam where they lived until 1940 when they retired and purchased the home where they have since lived.

She lived a busy life and in spite of ill health in recent years was ever thinking of others. She was always ready to sacrifice her own self for the interest of her family.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; daughter Mrs. Minnie Smallfoot; son-in-law Albert Smallfoot; grandson Robert Smallfoot, all of Ingham; three sisters and three brothers, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Olesen funeral home to the local Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Otto A. Quaife was in charge of the service. Music was by a mixed quartet of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Pollard, Dan McNickle and Mrs. Hugo Blomquist, Mrs. Raymond Smith was at the piano. Casket-bearers were Wayne Parker, Burr Parker, Mart Enevoldsen, Owen Thompson, Russell Wilcox and A. LaBounty. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.

ATTEND SISTER'S FUNERAL

Fred Gewecke and Mr. and Mrs. Will Rippe went to Farman to attend the funeral of their sister, Mrs. Minnie Marie Gewecke Roetter, held from the Methodist church Wednesday, October 3, at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Otto F. Quaife of Eustis in charge.

The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gewecke of Ohiowa. She was one of the older of a family of nine. She was born at Crown Point, Ind., October 5, 1871. Death came September 30, 1951 at her home at Farnam. The family first resided on a farm near there.

She had suffered three strokes, the last making her bedfast. Her sister, Mrs. Ella Bahe of Davenport, assisted in her care the last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Roetter were the parents of two, a son, Henry and daughter, Minnie. The son preceded her in death, also a sister, Mrs. Lizzie (Gus) Goodman of Ohiowa and a brother, Henry Gewecke of Concordia, Kas. Left to mourn her departure are her husband Henry, a daughter, Mrs. Albert Smallfoot, and one grandson, a senior in high school, three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Clara) Claussen of Scottsbluff, Mrs. Ella Bahe of Davenport and Mrs. Will (Anna) Rippe, three brothers, Joseph of Schuyler, Adolph of Farnam, the oldest of the family, now 81, and Fred of Ohiowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sieckmann of Davenport also attended the funeral.

Burial was at Farnam.

Mrs. Roetter was known to many Ohiowans, including friends of her youth.
