Henry Roetter Passes Away
Tuesday in Gothenburg

Henry John Roetter, son of Henry and Katharine Roetter, was born on July 21, 1873, at Beecher, Will county, Illinois; and passed away at the Delbert Slack&rsquot;s Nursing Home, Gothenburg, Nebraska, Tuesday, April 24, 1956, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 3 days.

His parents moved from Illinois to Ohiowa, Nebraska in 1880. He was united in marriage to Minnie Marie Gewecke, October 4, 1894, at Ohiowa, Nebraska. Following their marriage they lived for six years near Ohiowa with his father and mother. They then resided on a farm near Ohiowa until they moved to a farm eight miles northwest of Farnam, Nebraska. They lived on this farm until 1919, when because of ill health of their son, they were forced to leave the farm. They purchased a home in Farnam, and still continued to operate the farm. They retired in 1940, and purchased the home where he lived until the time of his last illness and eath.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sept. 30, 1951, and two sons, Henry Roetter, April 10, 1928, and Lynn, who died in infancy.

He was baptized in October, 1873 and was Confirmed in the Lutheran church at Ohiowa, March 6, 1887.

He, with his family, were called upon to endure many hardships during the first years in Nebraska. The Lord richly blessed their endeavors through it all. He was the eldest son when his father was taken from them and had to go ahead with the work with his mother’s help.

He was a kind and loving father and a very good neighbor, always ready to help when others needed him. He will be greatly missed in the Farnam community.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Lena Smallfoot, Farnam, Nebraska, and one grandson, Robert Lee Smallfoot , Farnam, Nebraska, also a number of nieces and nephews.

"Tis hard to break the tender cord,
Where love has bound the heart,
Tis hard, so hard, to speak the word,
We must forever part.
"Dearest loved one, we must lay thee,
In the peaceful grave’s embrace,
But thy memory will be cherished.
Till we see thy heavenly face."

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Farnam, Nebraska, Saturday, April 28, 1956, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. B. H. Hart officiated. Interment was in the cemetery at Farnam.
