Nellie A. Rice
Nellie A. Rice, 104, died Feb. 1, 1996, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital long term care.
Services were 2 p.m. Feb. 5, at the Farnam Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Irwin Edwards of the Cozad Church of the Nazarene officiating. Casket bearers were Russell Williams, Duane Sukraw, Floyd Lindekugal, Clark Klooz, Dorrance Arnold and Dennis Kirkpatrick. Music was provided by Beverly Smith and Irene Miller. Burial was at the Farnam Cemetery.
She was born south of Farnam on April 2, 1891, to Jacob B. and Mary Luella (Lydic) Rice. She moved in 1933 to Wichita, KS, where she was a self-employed seamstress making baby clothes under the Rice Original and Margie-Carol labels.
About 1971, she moved to Gothenburg where she taught Sunday school for many years in the Nazarene Church. She was a member of the Cozad Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include 11 nephews and nieces including Marjorie Farnstrom and Pauline Sukraw, both of Gothenburg; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brother, Jay Rice and Dean Rice; two sisters, Elizabeth Klooz and Laura Day.
Memorials may be made to the Cozad or Farnam Church of the Nazarene.
