Clebert A. Rice
Deacon Clebert A. Rice was born in Dover, Ohio, December 7, 1850 and fell asleep in Jesus July 30, 1919 at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 23 days.
Moving with his parents at an early age to Olmstead Falls, Ohio, he resided there until the year of 1880.
On June 30, 1872 he was united in marriage to Adeline Rueblin; this was truly a marriage made in heaven. For over 47 years they lived together in sweetest harmony and gentle love, a beautiful example of domestic happiness.
In 1880 he emigrated with his family to the then "far west" and settled on a farm in Frontier county, near Farnam, Nebraska.
Leaving the farm in 1900 he moved to Farnam where he resided until called to go up higher to meet his Lord.
Mr. Rice united with the Congregational church in September 1895, being a valued member ever since. The church honored him the same year with the office of Deacon which he has held continuously. Also he has held the office as Treasurer for a number of years, and at another time filled the office of Trustee for some years.
In life, the consistent christian example of disciple of the Master has been an inspiration, and today friends gather to pay honor and respect to a friend who has gone, but whose memory will remain.
The community and church lose a valuable member whose place will not easily be filled.
Mr. Rice is survived by his wife and daughter, Mrs. Mertice E. Velte and family, also three sisters and two brothers. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community go out to the bereaved. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, and their works do follow them." Rev. 14:13
Funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon, conducted by Revs. Harry H. and K. June Pollard. Interment in Farnam cemetery.
