George Irwin Reeves
George Irwin Reeves was born March 17, 1860 in Brown County, Kansas, and died at Burlington, Iowa on January 23, 1943.
He was married to Anna Cook in St. Clair County, Missouri, May 17, 1882. To this union one child, Effie, was born.
He entered the ministry of the Methodist Church in Iowa in September 1885 and was ordained an Elder the following September, and engaged in a great deal of pioneer work, then served several charges in Iowa.
In 1898, he moved to Nebraska for health reasons. In the years that followed he studied for the medical profession and graduated from the St. Joseph medical school in 1902.
He practiced medicine for a few years, then returned to the ministry and served at Eustis, Wilcox, Hildreth, Shickley, Strang, Holbrook, Bloomington, and Moorefield.
His wife died March 8, 1942 and the daughter, Effie, two weeks later.
Surviving are their adopted daughter, Mrs. Carroll Largent of Burlington, Iowa, with whom he had made his home recently; four granddaughters, several nephews and nieces. Also four brothers, N. G. Reeves of Farnam, J. F. of Kansas City, C. W. of Alberta, Canada, and C. D. of Hot Springs, South Dakota and one sister, Mrs. G. N. of Adair, California.
Dr. Reeves was a member of the Masonic lodge at Belgrade.
The body was brought to the Hugo Funeral Home in Gothenburg, and then to the Methodist church in Farnam, where funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. H. Tipton, assisted by Rev. S. Mitchell of Beaver City and Rev. C. G. Ellis of Eustis.
Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery beside his wife.
