Peter Carlson Oberg was born in Christianstads Lan Lonstoda, Sweden, February 19, 1855. Died at Farnam, Nebraska, April 3, 1933. Age 78 years, 1 month and 14 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Peterson, June 30, 1887. To this union was born eleven children, two having preceded him in death. Charles Edward, who died at the age of twenty-eight and Amelia Mathilda at the age of seventeen.

In the year 1881 he emigrated to America, coming to Joliet, Ill., where he spent a short time. From there he moved to Webster County, Nebraska, residing there until 1908, when he moved to Farnam, living on a farm southeast of here until 1917, when he moved to town.

At the age of 37 he joined the Swedish Free Mission Church, being truly converted. He has been an active church worker for more than forty years. The last few years as a member of the Farnam Nazarene Church. During this time his chief ambition was to do good to all, and serve his maker faithfully, which was followed to the end.

Always willing to help those in need, and offer a cheering word.

He leaves to mourn his departure a kind and loving wife, nine children: Fred of Gaston, Oregon, Mrs. Esther Nordmo, Shanyang, China; Claude of Rockford, Ill., Anne of Omaha, Nebr., John, Mrs. Ruth Johnson, Walter, Edna and Noble all of Farnam, also two brothers, Olaf Oberg of Lonsboda, Sweden and Benjamin Oberg of Bladen, Nebr., four sisters: Mrs. Emma Nelson of Haxtun, Colo., Mrs. Ingrid Elder of Aspen, Colo., Mrs. Hanna Svenson of New York, Mrs. Bengta Nelson of Lonsboda, Sweden; eighteen grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

His presence will be greatly missed both in the home and this community, for to know him, was to love him, as it can be truly said he was a man among men.

Precious Father he has left us
Left us yes forevermore;
But we hope to meet our loved one
On that bright and happy shore
Lonely the house, and sad the hours
Since our dear one has gone;
But Oh! a brighter home than ours,
In Heaven is now his own.

Funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday afternoon, April 5th, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Carl R. Carlson, pastor of the Swedish Mission church of Gothenburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Jay Rice rendered several beautiful selections and Mrs. Carlson and Miss Larson of Gothenburg, sang a Swedish song.

Burial was the Farnam cemetery.

The Farnam Echo, 7 Apr 1933.
