Charley Mowrey
passed away at 74

Chsarley Mowrey, a retired farmer of the Farnam community passed away Sunday afternoon in a Gothenburg Hospital after a long illness. He had spent the last nine weeks in the hospital.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Farnam Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. B. H. Hart officiating. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery. Olesen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Obituary

Charley Mowrey, son of David and Mary Jane Mowrey, was born February 2, 1884, at Osborn, Kansas; and passed away at the Community Hospital, Sunday, Decebmer 7, 1958, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 5 days.

He was united in marriage to Flora Edith Pick, November 10, 1910, at Bethany, Missouri. To this union were born one son, Leo Mowrey, and two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Speck, and Mrs. Wanda Kenton.

Mr. Mowrey lived in Osborn for a time, then moved with his parents to Lane County, Kansas. After his marriage he lived for ten years in Bethany, Missouri. He moved with his family to the Farnam community in 1922, where he has since resided.

He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Missouri. He was taken ill last sumer, and spent the last nine weeks of his life in the Community Hospital, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Flora Edith Mowrey, Farnam; one son, Leo Mowrey, Farnam; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Speck, Gothenburg, and Mrs. Wanda Kenton, North Platte; one brother, Jess Mowrey, Benkelman, Nebraska; twelve granchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Pollard, Mrs. Charley Davis and Mrs. Arvid Banks sang, Mrs. Raymond Smith accompanied on the piano.

Pallbearers were Morris Wyckoff, Elwood Brown, Lee Hudson, E. B. Lewis, Weaver Cole and Claude Clement.
