Elizabeth (Beaman) Miller

Mrs. A. J. Miller died very suddenly Saturday afternoon, May 24, 1930, about five o'clock. She had been down town and was returning home, when she was taken with a sudden heart attack and died before the doctors could reach her. She was passing the Jerpe-Oxford creamery at the time the attack occurred.

Grandma Miller as she was known by nearly every one here had been ill during the past winter, but had been able to do her own work and had been coming down town every few days for some time. She had done her housework up until the day of her death.

Elizabeth Beaman was born in Clay county, Indiana, May 22, 1847, being at the time of her death 83 years and 2 days of age.

She was united in marriage to Andrew Miller, December 31, 1863, and to this union was born six children, one little girl, Viola, died at the age of three months, the other children are H. E. Miller, Orafino, Nebr.; Mrs. Cora Hiddleson, Grand Island, Nebr.; Mrs. Eliza Knisley, Cairo, Nebr.; Mrs. Maggie Winchell, Bosler, Wyo. and John H. of Farnam.

Mrs. Miller was left without a mother at the age of two years and an orphan at four years. She was cared for by relatives. She was one of a family of six children, all of whom preceded her in death.

There are seventeen grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. There are also two of her cousins residing at Eustis, Mrs. Frank Lehman and Mrs. Ida McCarty.

She with her husband came to Greene county, Iowa in 1864, settling on a farm, where they saw many hardships in those pioneer days. In the spring of 1898, she with her husband moved to Frontier county, Nebraska, settling on a farm 18 miles southwest of Farnam, where they resided until 1909 when they retired from the farm and moved to Farnam.

Mr. Miller passed away on April 5, 1913.

Mrs. Miller was converted at the age of thirteen years and united with the church in Indiana. After coming to Farnam she affiliated with the Baptist church here.
