COZAD — Rebecca M. Shanholts, 80, died Wednesday in the Cozad hospital. She was born April 17, 1907, at Stockville to George and Clara McMichael Johnson.

She was raised on a farm near Stockville. She was married to Marion Metcalf in 1925 and lived near Farnam until 1952 when they moved to Cozad. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968. She then married Harry Shanholts in 1972, who preceded her in death in 1986.

Survivors include two daughters, Laverna Schroeder of Spokane, Wash., and Lois (Mrs. Kenneth) Meredith of Grand Island; one stepson, Ronald Stanholts of Cozad; two brothers, Millard Johnson of McCook and Irvin Johnson of Farnam; three sisters, Dora Weiss of Curtis, Jenny Gardner of Farnam and Donna (Mrs. Ray) Swanson of Wauneta; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by one son, Eldon Metcalf, in 1977.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel at Cozad with Bill Poling of the Newell Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Visitation will be today from 1-9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
