Obituary Collection
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR
MARION MESSERSMITH
HELD WEDNESDAY

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the homes out of Farnam for Marion Messersmith, who passed away last Sunday evening. Burial was made in the Farnam cemetery.

The obituary will be printed in the Echo next week.

The Farnam friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their sorrow.

Marion Messersmith


Benjamin Marion Messersmith was born March 4, 1861 at Unionville, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Mamie Nickerson April 9, 1889. To this union six children were born. His first wife and son, Leo preceding him in death.

He was united in marriage to Clara Nickerson, Jan. 31, 1912.

At the age of five, with his parents moved to Alba, Iowa, where he remained until eighteen years of age, then with his parents moved to eastern Nebraska, later homesteading in Frontier county on the farm where he passed away, on April 26, 1931, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 22 days.

He was a good husband and father, who with his family braved the experiences of early pioneering.

Those remaining to mourn his departure are his wife, five brothers, Thomas of Malnio, Minn.; Harry, Alonzo, George of Farnam; Andrew of North Platte. Five sisters, Mrs. Steve Foster, Cambridge; Mrs. Lon Kelley, Weatherford, Oklahoma; Mrs. Edgar Hart, Lincoln; Mrs. Chas. Bray, Oxford; and Mrs. W. E. Adkisson of Farnam. Five children, Lloyd, Lola, Linna, Alton and Lyle and five step-children, Milo, Fred, Henry, Clifford and Leila besides seventeen grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
