OBITUARY

Albert Alonzo Messersmith, son of Thomas J. and Angeline Messersmith, was born in Boone county, Iowa, December 21, 1874. He passed away after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Leota Redford, on April 6, 1957 at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 15 days.

He came with his parents to a homestead in Frontier county, Nebraska in 1883. He was united in marriage to Addie Castor in 1901. They lived on a farm east of Stockville until she passed away in February of 1935. To this union five children were born: Leota of Cambridge, Lewis of Hayes Center, Herbert of Farnam, Leola Kehr near Bartley, and Albert of Gering, who preceded him in death on November 15, 1955.

During the last years of his life due to failing health he made his home with his daughter, Leota, except when visiting the other children.

His father, mother, wife Addie, six sisters, and four brothers also preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his four children, sister, Lucy Adkisson of Farnam, brother George, Mountain Grove, Missouri, fifteen grandchilren, thirteen great-grandchildren also many other relatives and friends.

“A precious one from us is gone
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.”

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Farnam, Nebraska, Wednesday, April 10, 1957, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. B. H. Hart officiated. Interment in the Farnam Cemetery, Farnam, Nebraska.
