Verne R. McNickle

Verne R. McNickle, 75, died Jan. 18, 1998, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 17, 1922, at Farnam to Harvey Ray and Lillie Mable Burrows McNickle. He was baptized in the Farnam Methodist Church at a early age. He graduated from Farnam High School in 1939 and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for a year. He then went to Washington to work for the U.S. Government.

In 1943, he returned to Farnam and lived with his parents on the farm at Farnam until 1970, when he moved to Gothenburg.

Mr. McNickle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farnam.

Survivors include a sister, Ethel (Vernon) Thomsen of Sutherland; two brothers, Rex (Mary) of Lancaster, Pa., and Dale (Lola) of North Platte; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine Lindvall; a brother, Glen; a niece, Joan Susan Thomsen; three nephews, Dennis Thomsen and Richard and Mathew Dale McNickle; a sister-in-law, Jean McNickle Eller of Manhatten, Kan.; and a brother-in-law, Bernie Lindvall of Gothenburg.

Memorials may be made to the Farnam Rescue Unit or the Farnam Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Eugene Beye officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
