Max "Bill" Lavern McNickle 82, of Farnam, died Monday, January 20, 1992 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held Thursday, January 23, 1992 at 10:30 am. at the United Methodist Church in Farnam, with Reverend Charles Leypoldt officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

McNickle was born on May 26, 1909, at Farnam. He was the son of Arthur and Grace (Wood) McNickle.

He graduated from Farnam High School in 1928. On July 17, 1933 he was married to Ruth Lewis at Bassett.

He was a farmer rancher in the Farnam area, and moved into Farnam 20 years ago when he retired.

He was very active in church and in the church's construction in 1975. He served on the Farnam school board for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Farnam; one daughter, Janet (Mrs. Alvin) Mandery of Lincoln; one brother Arthur McNickle of Tumwater, Washington; one sister Kathleen Meyers of Florence, Colorado two granddaughters and three great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ronnie; seven brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Farnam rescue unit or the Farnam United Methodist Church.
