Dan McNickle
Arthur Daniel McNickle, oldest son of A. McNickle and Sarah Rhodes McNickle was born near Grafton, Nebraska 6 May 1880.
He moved to Farnam with his parents, sister and three brothers in 1892 when he was the age of 12.
He became a member of the Congregational Church at Farnam at the age of 18 and continued until it disbanded.
On 25 December 1802 he married Grace Wood at her home in Farnam. Eleven children were born to this union; Dell who died at his home in Iowa Falls in 1980; Arthur of Tacoma, Washington; Gwendolyn of Denver, Colorado; Max of Farnam; Ralph of Gordon, Nebraska; Frances who died at his home in Sheridan, Wyoming; (16 July 1954); Maynard who died in 1921 at the age of 7, Clark living on the old farm; Kathleen of Florence, Colorado, and Phyllis, the youngest was killed in an accident near Wendell, Idaho in 1952.
He was a board member of the Farnam Elavator 20 years and of the CoOp Oil Company 28 years.; served the school board of Lincoln County District 20 for 20 years; and County Accessor of Walker Precinct 18 years.
He leaves to mourn two brothers John of Villago, California; Harve of Farnam, five sons; two daughters; 23 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and Grace died 1947.
He was also a member of the Farnam Lions Club.
Funeral held Monday 12 August 1957 at the Farnam Methodist Church. Reverend Lauren Messersmith officating. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pollard, Mrs. Charles Davis, and Mr. David Banks sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "The Christians Good Nite". Merlin Montgomery accompanied on the piano.
Pallbearers were Martin Enevoldson, Arch Jorgensen, Grover Widick, Edgar King, and Ernest Lewis.
Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
