Herbert P. McMichael
Herbert P. McMichael, 77, died Jan. 18, 1996, at his home in Curtis.
He was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Orafino to Clifford and Julia (McCarl) McMichael.
He was a former resident of Fort Morgan, Colo., and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Gale Hanes of Culbertson; a son, Dallas of McCook; three sisters, Millie Adkisson of Farnam, Julia Schneider of Hermiston, Ore., and Ruth Hoppe of Moorefield; and two brothers, Richard of Farnam and Clifford of Hermiston, Ore.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Farnam Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
Wetzel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Note: Herbert McMichael served in both World War II and the Korean War. During World War II he was a member of the US Army 17th Ordnance Company stationed in the Philipines and was captured by the Japanese, survived the Bataan death march and was liberted at the end of the war while imprisoned at Shirakawa, Formosa.
