Lucretia (Irelan) (McDermott) Cline
Lucretia D. Irelan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan M. Irelan, was born at Zanesville, Ohio, on October 23, 1853, and passed away at her home in Sterling, Colo., Sept. 25 1941, following a month's illness. At the age of one year she moved with her parents to Washington, Iowa, and lived there until 1878, when they moved to Clarinda, Iowa. In 1881 at that city she was united in marriage to James McDermott and lived there until 1884 when they moved to Logan, Kansas. In 1890 they moved to Farnam, Nebraska, where they made their home until 1920, then moving to Long Beach, Calif. In 1921 Mr. McDermott was killed in a street car accident. She brought the remains of Mr. McDermott back to Farnam for burial and remained until 1928, when she was united in marriage to Thomas Cline, and, moved to Ottawa, Kansas. Mr. Cline passed away there in 1936.
She then moved to Gothenburg, to make her home with her sister, Mrs. James Dodd. After Mrs. Dodd's death in 1939 she moved to Sterling, Colo., where she lived until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Farnam Methodist church, and transferred her membership in 1920 to the Long Beach Methodist church.
She is survived by two brothers, W. E. Irelan and B. B. Irelan of Sterling, Colo., twenty nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28th., from the Olesen Mortuary in Gothenburg to the Methodist church in Farnam, at two o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. Samuel Mitchell. Singers were : Mrs. Charles Brugger, Miss Phyllis Brugger, Rev. Anderson and Earl Hess, with Mr. Samuel Mitchel as accompanist. Pallbearers were John Rowland, Lee Hudson, Lester Patterson, W. R. Fitch, W. E. Patterson and Ed Davidson. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
