Wendell "Bud" Martin

Wendell Martin, 57, died Wednesday at a Kearney hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Beaver City.

Martin was a veteran of the Korean War and lived in Farnam for 20 years. He was a member of the Gothenburg VFW Post No. 64 and had been employed by Anderson's Companies for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Farnam; two sons, Kenneth of Beatrice and Larry of Gothenburg; two daughters, Wanita (Mrs. Jeffery) Marxen of Omaha and Vicky Callander of Grand Island; his mother, Elva Martin of Beaver City; two brothers, Wayne of Oxford and Dale of Brawley, Calif.; three sisters, Edith (Mrs. William) Swanson of Cambridge, Margery Hoagland of Wichita, Kan., and Jean (Mrs. Paul) Arington of Kittitas, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

Services were Friday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Carl Lent officiating. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. McVay Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
