Lawrence Glen Martin
Funeral services for Lawrence Glen Martin, 85, were conducted Tuesday at the McVay Memorial Chapel. Martin died Feb. 8, 1986 at Slack Nursing Home in Gothenburg.
Rev. Richard Dimond conducted the services. Providing the music were Sandy Burke and Mrs. Doris Geiken, organist. Casket bearers were Mike Martin, Greg Martin, Kevin Martin, Dave Mann, Charles Clark and Jim Lydic. Honorary bearers were Ben Anderson, John Weber, Ernest Peterson, Dwight Troxel, Elmer Dyer and William Healy. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
Martin was born on April 22, 1900, in Farnam, the son of John and Lois (Hayden) Martin. He worked for Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District for 26 years as hydro plant operator and retired in 1965. He married Esther Dickinson on Jan. 12, 1921, at Stockville. They moved to Gothenburg in 1938, then to Jeffery Lake in 1948. In 1965, they made Brady their home.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of Brady; one son, Del of Brady; one brother, Ken of Buckley, WA; one sister, Betty (Mrs. Cyril) Reznicek of Ottawa, KS; three grandsons, one granddaughter-in-law and two great grandchildren. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
A memorial has been established.
